Power League #2

We headed back down to Aurora, IL for our 2nd weekend in the Power League. The girls played well on Saturday, but struggled a bit on Sunday. I think they were just tired - they had played a lot over the past 10 days. After all, they are only 12 & 13!  They finished 4-2 for the weekend and stayed in the top bracket (the top 8 teams are in the A bracket - there are 125 teams in this "league").

Great dig!

Celebrating a great point...

Kaylee Birthday

Kaylee was lucky to have the birthday party with her friends and Grandma in Wisconsin Dells over the weekend and then Grandpa & Nana Jo took us out to eat at Red Robin for Kaylee's birthday dinner, on her birthday. She is a lucky girl - so many people remembered to send her a card or gift and wish her a happy birthday!

It is so hard to believe that she is 13 already - where has the time gone? A teenager?  Really? She is really a fantastic young lady and we are so proud to be her parents :)

President's Day Tournament - WI Dells

Kaylee's team (13 Gold) played in the 15s Division of the President's Day tournament in Wisconsin Dells and they played AWESOME! I was a little nervous that they would get trampled by the 15s, but they stepped up and really played great volleyball. It was amazing! They made it to the Championship match and had to play against Sting 14 Gold, which is coached by my sister and brother-in-law! It was a good match - we did lose in the end, but they stuck with them. The first game was 28-26 and game two was 25-18. Just a great, great weekend....

Central Zone - Indiana

Our next traveling weekend was a trip to Indiana. Kaylee and I rode with her friend Ashley and her parents- they drove, so I had a nice, relaxing ride this time. We left around 3pm and made it through Chicago without running into much traffic at all. But...the snow started falling as we got into Indiana. The roads started to get slick, so it took us a little longer to get there than we thought it would. But, it was worth it - we saw a car on fire in the ditch and 3 or 4 other cars in the ditch along the way. There was a car that sped past us and then spun out in front of us...crazy!  We were very happy to make it there in one piece. My sister Tracy and her husband coach the 14-1 team this year, so we are lucky to be traveling to some of the same tournaments as them. Natalie and my Mom came along this time and Natalie was such a good girl - she was making lots of friends at the hotel - all the kids just love her!  Oh - and my cousin Ken lives about 5 minutes from the hotel where we were staying, so he stopped by after flying in from DC...such a hectic life he leads, but it was SO nice to catch up with him for a little while.

As Kaylee said, "Funnest car ride, ever!"

Out!

Natalie even got in on the huddle after the game.

Hanging out with cousin Ken!

Celebrating an awesome weekend with shakes....and Kaylee napping on the way home.
