YSC Meet & Greet

I am part of a young survivor group here in Milwaukee that is made up of a great group of women- all who have been diagnosed under age 40-ish.  I have been going to a world-wide conference for 3 years now and invited some of my fellow survivors to come, too.  They decided we needed a local affiliate of the Young Survival Coalition.  So, we formed a committee and have started to form the YSC Milwaukee group!

The first step was to host a Meet & Greet.  Our first attempt was a wash-out... horrible rain storms that flooded streets here and kept everyone from coming out.  We rescheduled and had a couple new faces come and check us out.  It was a fun night...my Dad even came out to meet some of my fellow survivors!

My 1st Packer Game!

Amanda invited me to a Packer Game with her and her parents.  We had a blast.  I have to admit- I don't usually pay attention to the Packers... I am more of a Brewers girl.  But, I figured it would be cool to go and check it out.  Everyone should experience Lambeau Field, right?  Well, it was really cool!  We tailgated with friends at a house right next to Lambeau and had seats in the end zone...

State Fair 2010

Mom and I took Mariah, Kaylee, and Simon to the fair today.  We saw lots of animals- Simon was copying what the animals were saying.  The sheep noise was the funniest!  Mariah met up with her friends in the evening and Christy and Tavis joined us after work.

Kaylee's Vitiligo

Back in April, when we were in Florida, I noticed that as Kaylee was getting tan, she had some spots on her shoulder blade that weren't getting tan.  I didn't think much of it, but then recently noticed that she had a larger area on her neck.  I wanted to try to keep it from spreading, so I thought it was time to go see the doctor.  Her pediatrician sent us to a dermatologist named Dr. Hill.  Kaylee just loves going to see her.  I think the black light is her favorite part.  The doctor brings out a special hand-held black light and looks at her neck, back, legs, etc.  It is amazing how bright the white spots show up!  These areas have no pigment in them.  The doctor told Kaylee that we need to try to wake up her cells so they start to produce pigment again.  So, we are putting some creme on twice a day and will keep going back to the doctor every month or two to track her progress.

BBQ at Dad & Jo Anne's

We had our annual family gathering at Dad & Jo Anne's house this year (we have gone to Brewer games in the past, but couldn't get that to work this year).  We played a "lawn game tournament" this year.  The games included washers, bocce ball, ladder golf, and cornholing.  Dad got prizes for everyone.  The "Flarp" was the biggest hit (goo in a jar, makes farting noises).  It was a lot of fun- though we may not play so many different games next year - it took most of the day to play the games!
